Healthy Food and Drink Product List

This list is designed to make it easy to shop for The Healthy Skin Diet. Refer to this award-winning book for the recipes and full list of star quality foods which are fantastic for the skin.

Healthier bread choices

The breads on this list have been chosen on the basis that they are free of the artificial preservative 282 (calcium propionate), they contain visible wholegrains and some also have a lower glycemic index and may also contain omega-3 rich linseeds. If you are gluten intolerant go for sourdough bread which is made of corn as sourdough is low GI (sorry, it's hard to find a nutritious gluten free bread).

  • Burgen Bread (all types are fantastic, all low GI, Rye, Soy Lin, Oat and Honey etc.)
  • Country Life (Performax, Organic Rye etc.)
  • 9 Grain (Tip Top), Low GI and it's finally preservative-free!
  • Sourdough breads, spelt sourdough (low GI, yeast free). There is a great sourdough sliced bread at Aldi.

Animal produce

The animal produce on this list have been selected because they are rich in quality protein and may also be either rich in omega-3, free range or trimmed of fat and not processed into a poorer quality product (such as processed deli meats).

  • Free-range chicken, antibiotic free
  • Free-range eggs
  • Omega-3 enriched eggs (e.g. Free Range Plus 'Body Egg' by Pace Farm)
  • Lean red meat (fat cut off)
  • Fish especially omega-3 rich salmon, ocean trout and sardines (King Oscar)
  • Tinned chunky style tuna (e.g. Sole Mare)
Tip: buy a 'salad spinner' to wash and spin dry your salad greens.
