I agree with this article. It’s better to praise a child for ‘making an effort’ rather than for being ‘smart’. However, this article is open to misinterpretation so I feel I have to clarify something. This article does not say to tell your kids they are not smart (or stupid and so on). It simply points out the virtues of not giving your child a false sense of genius which can lower a child’s motivation to work hard. Praise your kids for making an effort and teach them the benefits of working hard to achieve something. Ground breaking stuff.
